Department of Pre-Veterinary Medicine

Pre-veterinary medicine is a 2-year training course for students who are going to undergo 4-year veterinary medicine training (professional training). All students are expected to have attained competence in science training that is sufficient to provide adequate preparation for veterinary medical school and in general studies.

Students contemplating a career in veterinary medicine should acquire a sound foundation of the basic sciences which are essential to the veterinary medicine curriculum. In addition, they should be motivated by a liking for animals, a sincere desire to serve the public, a propensity for the biological and medical sciences, and a deep interest in the promotion of the health of animal and human populations.

After passing the government-required examinations, as licensed veterinarians, graduates may operate their own animal hospitals or clinics, or work as inspectors or officers with government organizations such as the Korean Public Health Service.
