CNU announced You Are Right by Jeong Hye-shin as the “Book of 2019” for Gwangju and Jeonnam Read & Talk, a book reading campaign organized by CNU.

CNU held a declaration ceremony during its 67th anniversary ceremony on June 5. The book of the year has been selected by a poll in which 18,000 citizens of Gwangju and Jeonnam participated.

The book delineates insights and though-provoking analysis of the author, a neuropsychiatry specialist with a career spanning some ten years, who has dedicated herself to treat various people such as the dismissed workers of Ssangyong Motors, victims and their families of Sewol Ferry disaster, and victims of state violence. In the book, the author emphasizes that sympathy has the power to revive one's mind more strongly than any highly-regarded therapeutic medication or experts with stellar qualifications.

The CNU Library (Director: Professor Lee Myung-gyu) selected the other candidate books on the voting shortlist as companion books for 2019 Gwangju and Jeonnam Reand & Talk campaign. Further scheduled events of this campaign are as follows: Book concert with the author of You Are Right (September), operation of book clubs (July - December), book exhibition (September), book tour (October), book exchange fair and book review contest (November), and book quiz contest (December).

President Jeong said, "We hope that local residents participate in various reading activities in the local communities based on corresponsive reading experiences through sharing opinions and the discussion programs of Gwangju and Jeonnam Read & Talk.
