A climate prediction technology developed by Professor Jeong Jee-hoon of the CNU Department of Oceanography of the Faculty of Earth System and Environmental Sciences has been selected as one of the ‘Top 10 Technologies to Respond to Climate Change’ in “Korea Climate Technology 2019”.

Professor Jeong presented ‘Forecasting Technology for Korea’s Winter Climate’ to the “Korea Climate Technology 2019”, governed by the Ministry of Science and ICT, winning an award from the Minister of Science and ICT Award. “Korea Climate Technology 2019” aims to expand public awareness of the importance of climate technologies and establish foundations for global market entry.

Professor Jeong was the first in the world to unveil the "polar arctic" mechanism that affects Eurasia and North America. He also suggested the possibility of long-term predictions of unusual winter cold waves, which are rapidly becoming more common amid the processes of climate change. Professor Jeong’s work has been considered a significant contribution to the reduction of possible social and economic damage due to climate change.
