CNU members participated in the Global Challenge Project for students with disabilities in Sydney, Australia for 7 days from January 6 to 12.
The workshop was held under the theme of “Towards a Bigger World, Toward a Bigger Dream” and twelve students participated in the program, including eight students with disabilities such as visual (grade 1) difficulties and brain lesion (grade 1). They were accompanied by their helpers.
They visited organizations such as the Accesiblearts, which supports arts and sports activities for differently-abled people and the Bexley Community Services Hub, which helps people with disabilities to continue their work, education, and employment. They explained their operations, areas of support, and ways of participation as well as sharing opinions with the participants.
CNU designed this training program not only to help students with disabilities to experience a wider world and reinforce their global competence, but also to cultivate the spirit of challenge among all participating students so that they can understand differences, help each other, overcome difficulties during the training period and furthermore, direct their own future.
Cho Kyung-oh, the Director of Student Affairs said, “We plan to further expand domestic and international training programs which enable students with disabilities to explore and challenge the future.”
