CNU is contributing to cultivating excellent public officers in various marine and fisheries fields such as scientific research officers in national institutes of fisheries sciences.

CNU’s College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (Dean: Professor Kim Tae-ho) announced that forty-seven graduates from the college passed various exams to qualify as new civil servants in the marine and fisheries fields last year. Among them, eleven were hired as scientific research officers of the National Institute of Fisheries Science and relevant organizations in the Jeonnam region while nine were hired as grade 8 and 9 civil servants. In addition, twenty-three were employed by the Korea Coast Guard and four as fire department officers.

The CNU College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences has fostered a total of 183 national and local civil servants, with an average of 36 per year over the past five years. It is attributed to the college’s customized infrastructure including active career counseling, its faculty and student guidance program, online lectures, study spaces, and educational expenses support.
