The 2020 CNU Regular Admission recorded a high competition rate of 3.11:1.

According to CNU, the university received 3,965 applications of Type Ⅰ and Ⅱ of its regular admissions from December 26th to 30th online. Since CNU admits 1,274 (including 6 for the combined curriculum of undergraduate-MA integrated programs in the School of Dentistry, 9 designated as a special quota for students from farming and fishing communities, and 37 for departments designed for early employment contracts with corporations) from the regular admissions, the final competition rate was 3.11:1.

The CNU Gwangju campus recorded a rate of 3.31:1 (3,368 applications for 1,016 openings) and the Yeosu campus 2.31:1 (597 applications for 258 openings) respectively.

The Department of Veterinary Medicine recorded the highest competition rate among departments with 9.94:1, which is higher than the 9.88:1 of the previous year, and the Department of Home Economics Education and Department of Anthropology also had a high competition rate of 7.33:1.

The regional talent admission of the School of Medicine, which was restarted after the 2017 academic year, recorded 3.09:1, as 68 applications were submitted for 22 openings (including 9 carried over from early decision admissions).

The Department of Electrical Engineering, which showed a high employment rate following the relocation of public institutions, showed a high competition rate of 5.64 to 1 in the regular admissions and the early decision admissions.

The decreased competition rates of CNU and other major universities are attributed to the decreased population in the school age population and the number of university entrance exam applications this year, which is approximately 50,000 less than the previous year.
