CNU students gathered their ideas for the College Town-type Urban Regeneration Project that CNU operates.
 
According to CNU, it called for university students’ creative idea to encourage them to participate in community issues through the 'Idea Contest for the College Town Urban Regeneration.' ‘1+1+1’ by Yoon Hee-won, Kim Eui-song, and Jung Jin-yong students (seniors of the School of Mechanical Engineering) won the first prize for their original idea to combine age group-customized segments to plan the college town regarding the increase of single-person households. Based on the analysis of space usage around CNU’s Front Gate area, they proposed the idea of revitalizing the local economy by using the CNU space and promoting theme-based renovation projects (Eat Zone, Relax Zone, Edu Zone) in the neighboring areas.
 
The second prize was awarded to ‘Reviving Gukdong Harbor’ by Shin Ju-hak and 'Every Town: two-way Communication Platform' by Kim Hyun-Jung, Kim Hyun-min, Park Jin-ju and Lee Ha-rin. The former aims to attract tourists and residents to cultural programs through the Maritime Culture Complex Center, and establish landmarks with various contents in Yeosu. The latter came up with 'Social Salon' and 'Shared Class,' a two-way communication platform, which induces active participation between indigenous residents, single-person households of university students, and international residents.

In addition, various ideas emerged from university students to build the ideal college town. One of them was a plan to create a global culture space in the area near the College of Business Administration, where many international students reside. ‘From May to Town,’ a design for urban regeneration emphasizes the significance of the May 18 Democratization Movement and the necessity to remember the history. ‘COMMON KITCHEN’ responds to the changes in residential space, which increasingly removes kitchen areas in residential areas for single-person households by establishing shared kitchens to create a new community culture and revitalize the neighborhood.

CNU has received 85 ideas from last November to January 15, 2020, selected 16 ideas with originality and possibility to contribute to the community, and conferred awards on January 17, including CNU President’s awards with prizes.
