2019 Gwangju-Jeonnam Read & Talk Book Club Award

CNU awarded prizes to 12 outstanding reading clubs as part of the “2019 Gwangju-Jeonnam Read & Talk” scheme, a book reading campaign CNU conducts for local communities

The CNU Library (Director: Professor Chang Woo-gwon) conferred awards in the Seminar Hall of the Headquarters Building on January 20th to twelve book clubs with excellent performances from a total of 113 teams (of 873 participants) during this year’s campaign of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Read & Talk project.

Among the participating clubs, ‘V6’ won the first prize for the off-campus club award. ‘Beotkkot Reading’ and ‘Haranghaje’ jointly received the second prize. The third prize was conferred upon ‘Dasanddadok,’ ‘Minam Club,’ and ‘Haetsalkadeuk.’ These reading clubs have diverse members ranging from high school students to university students to parents. Book clubs of CNU students were awarded separately: ‘Doksuri Five’ won the first prize while the second prize went jointly to ‘Born in 1990s’ and ‘Chekilout’ and the third prize was shared between ‘Keobook Club,’ ‘CWW,’ and ‘Chektaneun Chungchun.’

President Jeong said, “The Gwangju-Jeonnam Read & Talk scheme has played an important role in encouraging and transforming the community through various projects. This year, 2,400 local residents from local communities and 12 universities from Gwangju and the Jeonnam regions participated in various programs, opening a new chapter in this reading culture movement. ”
