CNU decided to conduct the entire Spring semester via online classes to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

CNU held a meeting with the deans of the colleges and schools on April 16, and decided to extend the online class period until the end of the semester. The online class period was originally set to end on April 24 to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The university added that there could still be other changes made to certain schedules in accordance with the changing situation.

Undergraduate courses with laboratory activities and practical classes (including practical lessons for major courses), for which offline classes are essential, will partially operate collective classes under strict control and hold intensive make-up period (from June 29 to July 19).

Due to the change in the academic schedule, the summer session will be shortened from 4 weeks to 3 weeks (from July 15 to August 4).

In addition, the university allowed professors to decide on whether or not to take midterm exams and on the test method of choice. In addition, due to fairness issues regarding the evaluation of long-term online learning, the current relative evaluation will be replaced by an absolute evaluation method. Details such as the allocation rate per credit and the application method for laboratory courses will be further reviewed and confirmed.

Park Bok-jae, head of Academic Affairs at CNUsaid, “With the expansion of telecommuting, real-time video lessons and video materials, as well as discussion lessons and learner-led classes, new opportunities have been activated to provide the foundation for cutting-edge learning methods such as flip learning and design thinking. To this end, even if the COVID-19 situation is stable, if you wish to teach remotely, we will allow it through deliberation."
