CNU ranked 12th in Korea in the 2020 World University Academic Ranking (ARWU) released by Shanghai Jiaotong University in China.

According to the recently released ARWU rankings, CNU tied for 12th place in the domestic ranking, which is 4 levels higher than last year.

The international ranking of CNU also rose to the 501-600 range. Across South Korea, only 32 universities were ranked in the top 1,000 universities, which shows that CNU's research capabilities are being recognized worldwide.

The ARWU ranking evaluates universities with Nobel Prize Laureates, Fields Laureates, Highly Cited Researchers (HCR), or papers published in Nature or Science, as well as those with papers published by journals in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) lists. Universities with many papers listed in the SSCI are also included.

President Jeong said, “A synergetic effect is achieved through the combination of the excellent research capabilities of researchers and the systematic support system of the university. As a result, we are witnessing excellent outcomes, especially in evaluations of various universities around the world. We will continue to proactively support our researchers.”
