CNU will be transformed into a digital campus.

CNU is gradually building digital infrastructure through ICT (Information Communication Technology) advancement projects to proactively respond to the future of education and facilitate changes for the educational environment in the post COVID-19 era.

CNU’s Computing Center (Director: Professor Lee Chil-Woo) is planning to transform the network system into an ultra-high-speed one and build a hybrid cloud system to proactively respond to changes in educational methods such as video lectures and video education, and to facilitate the mass production, transmission and reception of digital information that will increase in the future.

The Ultra-High-Speed Futuristic Network is a combination of a high-speed wired network based on an SDN (Software Defined Network), a wireless Wi-Fi network (WiFi-6), and a 5G network. It enables data transmission speed between buildings on campus at almost 10 Gbps, up considerably from the current 1 Gbps. It is set to be 10 times faster, and even when almost all students participate in real-time video lectures simultaneously, the access will be accommodated without failure.

The Computing Center also will introduce a pilot service for future technologies such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), voice bots, autonomous driving devices, Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence (AI) based on 5G networks. For now, it will be utilized through the installation of an intelligent thermal inspection system and an automatic access registration system using image and QR codes to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and control access.

Along with this, all university homepages will be converted to a public cloud base, and a Hybrid Cloud Data Center connected to the public cloud will be established by the university, allowing users to access the network off-campus, even if they are away from the classroom, library, or laboratory. Even when working from home or on a business trip abroad, it will be possible to access digital information and use the data.

CNU ranked first in the 2020 information security level diagnosis, evaluation, and inspection by the Ministry of Education.
