Peach was grown with microorganism material without any farming chemical medicine and fertilizers. The way to grow the fruits in the orchard without any chemicals is opened. Prof. Kim Kil-yong (45, Applied Bio-Engineering College, Major of Bio-eco-chemistry), who already succeeded to grow vegetables - tomatoes, cabbages with kitin decomposite microorganism material, grew peaches without any farming chemicals in the orchard. Usually, it is known that it is impossible to grow fruits because it is easy to be damaged by insects and diseases. In the past, the growth of non-chemical of fruits in green house was succeeded. But it is first time to make success in the orchard without any farming chemicals and it became an issue. Prof. Kim tried the experiment in the orchard of Mr. Lee Dong Gu in No-an, Naju funded by Agricultural Promotion Institute - Biogreen 21 Project. In the 700 pyong orchard, peaches were grown without any farming chemicals and the first harvest will be on 20th with successful outcomes. For growing peaches, it is known that 10 to 15 times of spraying of agricultural chemicals are required. Instead, the orchard was sprayed only microorganism materials and no chemicals. The results are much better than last year. Prof. Kim explained that Kitin decomposite microorganism materials are making enzymes to kill diseases, work as fertilizers, and have effects of natural antibiotics. Mr. Lee Dong Gu, farmer, said “The size of fruits are bigger and the level of sweetness of the fruits are higher than last year although we don
t use any agricultural chemicals and chemical fertilizers and we use only microorganism materials.” and he added “Despite of little annoyance to spray the microorganism materials regularly, the cost of production is lowered and no-chemical pro-environmental fruits can be produced and the selling routes might be better.” Meanwhile, Prof. Kim also raised pears at the orchard area of 3,000 pyong in Dokjin Myong, Yongam. There was no spray of chemicals but the conditions of pears are very good and the harvest of no-chemical pears will be possible in autumn. Prof. Kim, a leader of Pro-environmental Agricultural Project Center, got an evaluation that he wrote a new history of pro-environmental agriculture by developing microorganism materials using decomposite enzymes from Kitin. Based on the research success of Prof. Kim, the followers of Prof. Kim established venture Co. Love of Earth in CNU and they produced microorganism materials. They had 0.5 billion won contacts with Namhea Chemicals last year
