The late Song Tae-hoon’s family followed the intention of the deceased and donated 100 million won to the CNU College of Medicine. Song, born in Daechon, Gwangsan-gu, asked his family to donate the gift money while he was in hospital. On March 3, his family visited President Kang Jung-chae and gave the money. They asked President Kang to use the money for the students in need, especially for the students in the College of Medicine, irrespective of their scholastic achievements. In addition, they added the deceased had asked the scholarship students would return the favor to other young students after 15 years later. This kind of baton pass donation surely will contribute to the expansion of donation culture in our society. Dr. Kim Seok-bin, Song’s son-in-law and CNU medicine college graduate, donated 20 million won in 2003. Kim’s family including his son and daughter promised to participate in the donation after they finish their studies. The College of Medicine (Dean Lee Hun-chul) will establish the Song Tae-hoon Scholarship and provide scholarships to students in financial needs.
