Prof. Kim Yang-hyun of Philosophy Appointed Chief Researcher of the Presidential Committee for Cultural Cities

Prof. Kim Yang-hyun, 45, in the Department of Philosophy, was appointed new chief researcher of the Presidential Committee for Cultural Cities on April 1. He will take the post for the next two years by March 2007 and will be directing the research group to discuss and evaluate plans to make Gwangju a cultural hub city. The Presidential Committee for Cultural Cities is aiming to complete the construction of the National Asian Culture Hall by the year 2010. Kim will be in charge of mapping out a master plan to establish the National Asian Culture Hall. Kim will also focus on pursuing the cultural remodeling of Gwangju as a cultural hub city and establishing a networking system among the city, citizens, and academic circles. Prof. Kim received his Ph.D. from the University of Munster in Germany with his dissertation on Kant’s philosophy. He is expected to greatly contribute to the establishment of the culture city.
