s Dinosaur Learning Center will be open. The Korea Dinosaur Research Center (Director: Prof. Huh Min, Earth Systems and Environmental Sciences) at CNU has established a center for experience based learning for the study of dinosaur in a building with a total floor space of 300 pyeong (917㎡), located behind the Yongji Pond. From colossal skeletons of dinosaurs from the Jurassic Period to eggs and bones thriving today, Dinosaur Learning Center has everything about dinosaurs under one roof and visitors are allowed to check out the fossils and bones at a special corner. As part of promoting the open education programs for the community residents, the Center will be open 7 days a week to 10 p.m. Dinosaur Learning Center has about 100 pieces in its collection of dinosaur fossils including dinosaur bones, eggs, teeth, and footprints. In addition, the dinosaurs living in the Mesozoic era and dominating the earth for 160 million years have been recreated at the Learning Center. Included in the collection are dinosaur skeletons, egg fossils, pterosaur
s footprint fossils, plant specimens, and rocks that compose the earth, all of which are real. Divided into themed sections, including dinosaur skeletons, miniatures and models, treatises and research reports, pictures, and video files, the center especially makes an effort to encourage children
s interest and appreciation of dinosaurs. I expect the newly established center will play roles as learning center, experiential center, and data library with every information on dinosaurs. In order to promote the dinosaur research projects in the Korean peninsula, which is renowned as the world-famous dinosaur site, we proposed an establishment of the dinosaur learning center to the Ministry of Culture & Tourism. We are also cooperating with Cultural Properties Administration for the designation of the dinosaur belts located at the southern seashore as the world heritage of the UNESCO, said Director Huh Min.
