CNU has mapped out its extensive globalization program in order to enhance its international competitiveness and upgrade students
language skills in keeping with an era of globalization. Starting this year, the number of the students to be dispatched overseas every year for training programs will increase up to over a thousand, which stayed at 500 last year. CNU has exerting its effort to cultivate international leaders equipped with an ability to communicate smoothly in the global society and decided to provide more students with the opportunities to go abroad for their job experience and language studies during the summer vacation. They will participate in several different programs; the overseas on-the-job training program (six-weeks), the overseas language study program (four to six weeks) , the world educational travel program (about two weeks), exchange studentship program (six months to one year), Camp Counselors program (CCUSA) and Work Experience USA program (WEUSA), and Pacific Asia Society Youth Corps (PAS). From the 1st semester of the academic year 2005, first-year students should take a general study course of
writing
as a requirement. The topic of students
communication skills has been raised before on innumerable occasions and a wide range of policies and practices have been developed recently in response to various aspects of communication skills, changing from a face-to-face type into digital online communications in this knowledge-based society. The course will be divided into three different sectors; writing for humane studies, writing for social science studies, and writing for natural science studies. This program ultimately aims at getting students equipped with competencies to pick out the main points of current issues, organize them, and express their thoughts in a logical manner. CNU is planning to host an event to commemorate the 25th anniversary of May 18 Democracy Movement in connection with CNU’s founding anniversary, dated on June 9.
