To meet the growing demand for qualified workers with international competitiveness, the College of Business Administration at CNU has developed a dual-degree program with Bloomfield College located in Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA. For this program, two Colleges signed a cooperation pact on September 24 at CNU. In this long-standing program, students spend two years at CNU, completing most of the requirements for a bachelor's degree in one of the fields in business administration majors. Students apply to transfer to Bloomfield College for the third and fourth years of the dual-degree program. If admitted, they complete requirements for a degree in a chosen specialty, and they also take any remaining courses for the Bloomfield major. Upon completion of the program, the student receives two bachelor's degrees from CNU and from Bloomfield College.
The College of Business Administration at CNU will provide this 2+2 program for the freshmen of the 2005 academic year. In 2005, the College will select some applicants who want to participate in the program. From 2006, a quota of students to be admitted to the dual-degree program will be set up.
Bloomfield College, founded in 1868, is an independent college historically related to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and strategically located in the New Jersey-New York metropolitan region. The College offers 52 academic programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees. College is chartered by the State of New Jersey and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The nursing, business administration, and IT programs at Bloomfield have been approved for their strong competitiveness. Bloomfield College will offer English training courses for CNU students admitted to the dual-degree program. The dual-degree program is also available at Rutgers University, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), and Stevens Institute of Technology. Through this program, students can obtain internationally accredited certifications and participate in one-year internship programs at U.S. companies. Students can be admitted to graduate schools of the three institutions, mentioned above, if they meet requirements for advanced degree studies.
CNU and Bloomfield College have agreed to extend the 2+2 dual degree opportunities for other college students such as IT or nursing.
Dean Kang Tae-koo of the College of Business Administration said, "In order to cope with rapidly changing environments, we have developed this special program with foreign universities. Unlike the existing dual-degree programs offered before, our program will be directed jointly by two institutions. Students must enter the dual-degree program as first-semester freshmen, beginning their course work at CNU. Based on the curricular developed in consultation with Bloomfield and is tailored to individual needs, students can enhance their international competitiveness."
Besides Bloomfield College, CNU will cooperate with other leading universities in Australia, Europe, or Southeast Asia. Currently CNU is in consultation with a leading university in the United States for a joint dual-degree program.
CNU President Kang Jung Chaee announced his vision to make CNU 'a top-tier university embracing the region and the world' when he was inaugurated on August 17. He promised to provide a wide range of international exchange programs including overseas training program for two thousand students in a year.
