CNU was selected as a leading university for the K-MOOC 2, Korea's online open lecture platform.

According to CNU, it was the only university in the Honam region to be selected by the Ministry of Education and the National Institute for Continuing Education and Promotion Agency for course development in universities’ characteristic and strategic fields.

CNU is planning to develop 14 courses on the subject of artificial intelligence convergence studies and democracy in Korea with a government fund of 600 million won over the next three years.

This year, course topics include robotics engineering artificial intelligence (Professor Park Jong-oh and Professor Hong A-young), bio-signal measurement and artificial intelligence-based abnormality detection (Professor Jeong Hee-yong), and Korea's democracy and democratization movement I and II (Professor Choi Jung-gie).

Prior to these developments, CNU founded the College of AI Convergence last year and is taking preemptive steps in convergence fields such as robotics, mobility, and energy. Recently, through the construction of the Gwangju campus’ Democracy Trail, CNU commemorated the milestones of Korean democracy such as the May 18 Democratization Movement.

Since 2017 when it was selected as one of the K-MOOC leading universities, CNU has developed 11 K-MOOC courses in the fields of natural sciences, social sciences, pedagogy, engineering, and humanities and shared them with both domestic and global leaners.
