Excellent Results from International Assessment on Research Capabilities

CNU is securing its firm status as a research-centered university by reaching top levels in international university assessments.
According to CNU, it ranked 11st among domestic universities and 368th internationally in the 2020 CWTS, The Centre for Science and Technology Studies released by Leiden University, which assessed research papers published during last four years.

A total of 7,462 research papers were published during the period of assessment and 7 % (521) of the papers were ranked among the top 10 % in the citation index, which proves the excellence of CNU scholarship both in terms of the quantity and quality of the research. 

Known as the Leiden Ranking, the assessment is made by Leiden University in the Netherlands, offering rankings of 1,176 universities from 65 countries, which published more than 1,000 research papers in international journals during a four-year period (2015-2018). Compared to other university rankings, the Leiden Ranking has been considered an x-objective indicator for evaluating research capabilities of universities since it focuses on the evaluation of the research competitiveness of each university without considering other factors such as the reputation of the university.

In addition, CNU ranked 11th among domestic universities and 440th internationally in the 2020-2021 CWUR World University Rankings announced by the Saudi Arabia Center for World University Rankings (CWUR).
 
The CWUR World University Rankings discloses the rankings of the top 2,000 universities in 18,000 universities around the world with 7 evaluation indicators such as education level, alumni employment, teaching level, research paper publication, ratio of excellent papers, and impact factor of papers.

CNU ranked 410th internationally in the area of research achievements, which accounts for 40% of the assessment.

President Jeong said, “As the passion and endeavor of CNU members to achieve excellent research and construct a researcher-friendly environment are harmonized, we are accumulating steady growth in research capabilities. As a research-centered university of the future, we will strive to support researchers to lead collective research at the international level.”
