CNU released the admission guideline for the early decision admissions of the upcoming academic year and general information for 2021 admissions.

According to the information from the 2020 admissions, CNU will admit 3,076 (73.6%) through early decisions and 1,103 (26.3%) through regular admissions. It also admits an extra quota of freshmen for departments that are designed for early employment contracts.

There were 67 more regular admissions than in 2019, which accepted 1,036(24.8%). Subject-oriented admissions (general) will admit slightly fewer students than 1,728 of last year while general student record admissions accepted an increased number of students: 545 for regional students’ admissions and 471 for excellent school record admissions.

In the 2020 CNU Early Decisions, the subject-oriented admission (general) process will change the ratio of its criterion from 80% of students’ record and 20% of document screening on academic accomplishments to 100% of students’ records and subject-oriented admissions (Arts Talent Admission) will be added. General student record admissions will change its title into general student record (excellent school record) admissions. The admissions for residents of farming and fishing towns and graduates from vocational high schools will change their category from general student record admissions to subject-oriented admissions.

The self-introduction letter will be abolished to reduce the burden of applicants and the number of applications will increase from double to triple. In addition, there has been no limit in the age and graduation year of applicants in all applications to CNU.

In accordance to the change in recruitment units, the College of Cultural and Social Sciences established the Department of Culture and Tourism Management while the Regional Development major of the Department of Economics in the College of Business Administration has been abolished. The Department of Special Education in the College of Education has been relocated to the Education Convergence Hall of the Gwangju Campus.

CNU provides useful information for its admission procedures such as access to admission results of previous academic years, a trial diagnosis service, and interview guide video on its 1-Click Service homepage (http://ao.chonnam.ac.kr/).
