Donation of quarantine supplies from China to curb COVID-19 has continued.

On April 13th, the Chinese Consulate General in Gwangju, Son Xian Wei, delivered 495 sets of health kits secured from China to CNU and gave words of encouragement to Chinese international students. Each health kit contains 20 general masks, 1 anti-prevention mask, and 1 pack of disinfecting tissue to prevent infection of COVID-19.

The donation ceremony was held on the lawn in front of the Minjumaru in keeping with social distancing measures, with over 50 attendees, including Consulate General of China in Gwangju, officers from the Chinese Consulate Staff, and professors from CNU including President Jeong and 50 Chinese international students.

In particular, after the ceremony, the Chinese student Pyeong Hwan-Hwan, sophomore in the MA program of Music gave a wonderful recital with Xiang Kai, sophomore in the Doctoral Program of Music, who played the saxophone.

The Consulate General stated, “A lot of people worked together hard to prepare and deliver these health kits. We are relieved that many Chinese students are staying in Gwangju, a largely unaffected area so far as the outbreak of COVID-19 is concerned. Please stay in touch with your families in China so as not to make them worry.”

President Jeong said, “The Consulate General of China in Gwangju has been a great help to protect Chinese students at the CNU campus and deal with difficulties. You should pay special attention to your health and study hard to achieve the goals you want to realize at CNU. ”

Meanwhile, there were large-scale donations from China. For instance, Lee Hae-gwang, an MA graduate from the Department of Pharmacy, who currently runs a medical supply business in China, sent 1,300 masks to his advisor professor, Emeritus Professor Seong Chung-ki. College of Pharmacy Dean Kim Kwon-seop gave 1,000 masks to Chinese students studying at CNU, and the other 300 were used by the department’s students in hospital practice.
