CNU Alumni Entered National Assembly through 21st General Election

Eighteen CNU alumni won in the general election.

According to CNU, in the general election that took place on April 15, 15 CNU alumni were elected for local constituencies including 7 in Gwangju, 4 in Jeonnam, 1 in Seoul, and 3 in Gyeonggi Province while 3 others were elected via proportional representation to the 21st National Assembly. Recently elected alumni are distributed across various regions and political parties, including 15 in the Democratic Party together with 1each for the Platform Party (an ally of the Democratic Party), the People’s Party, and the Justice Party.

There are 9 who earned a BA at CNU: Song Gap-seok (Department of Trade), Cho O-seop (Department of Communication), Lee Yong-bin (Department of Medicine), Min Hyung-bae (Department of Sociology), Kim Seung-nam (Department of Korean Language and Literature), Lee Gae-ho (Department of Business Administration), Lee Hak-young (Department of Korean Language and Literature), Kwon Eun-hee ( Department of Law), and Kang Eun-mi (Department of Oceanography).

Nine others graduated from one of the CNU’s graduate schools: Kim Nam-kook (Law School), Park Sang-hyuk (Law School), Lee Byung-hoon (who earned a PhD in Public Administration), Seo Sam-suk (who earned a PhD in the NGO Collaborative Program), Shin Jeong-hun (who completed coursework for the Graduate School of Public Administration), Lee Hyung-seok (who earned an MA in Political Science), Kim Byeong-ju (who earned an MA in Business Administration), Lee Nak-yeon (who earned an MBA) and Yang Hyang-ja (who earned an MBA).

CNU also educated 12 assembly members in the 20th National Assembly in 2016, 7 assembly members in the 2018 local elections, 7 leaders of municipal bodies, and 40 regional assembly members.

President Jeong stated, “We congratulate all alumni who have been elected to the National Assembly for their outstanding qualities and capabilities. We will actively support the activities of our alumni through cooperation with the CNU Alumni Association.
