Uzbek students at CNU raised funds from the scholarship they received to help their compatriot friend from Uzbekistan.

According to CNU, members of the Uzbekistan Student Union at CNU agreed to yield part of their scholarships to help Juraev Sardor, a sophomore of the School of Economics, who has been through economic difficulties after receiving kidney surgery.

In addition to their contribution from their scholarships, the Union members placed donation boxes on campus to collect contributions.

Saldor was diagnosed as having severe kidney malfunction in October 2018 when he was studying at CNU and it turned out that both kidneys were no longer functional. Fortunately, he was able to receive kidney transplant surgery from his mother with his mother being the donor, and is now committed to recovery treatment in Uzbekistan. However, his family is suffering from economic difficulties due to the operation and treatment costs even after selling their house.

After this sad news was acknowledged by Uzbek students at CNU, scholarship recipients among students from Uzbekistan decided to make contributions for the recuperation of Saldor. The scholarship provider, Kim Myung-kun, the Director of Keumho Housing, also lauded the “warm-hearted students who are more than willing to make concessions for their friend in a difficult situation."

Otabek Mamajonov Abdulhay Ogli (Junior, School of Business Administration), the President of the Uzbekistan Student Union at CNU, stated, “I am thankful to my Uzbek friends who voluntarily raised the funds and Kim who provided us the scholarship opportunities and agreed with the donation to Saldor. We will also start a fundraising campaign to help Saldor."

Sardor expressed his gratitude to CNU and Uzbek friends at CNU, "I was deeply moved by the warm-hearted CNU people. I am grateful for the hope they kindly delivered to me." He added, "As soon as my health is restored, I will return to CNU to continue my studies."
