CNU’s 67th Anniversary Ceremony "Let’s Write the History of Innovation"

CNU held a ceremony for its 67th anniversary under the slogan of “Let’s Write the History of Innovation” on June 5 (Wednesday) in Minjumaru (former CNU Auditorium) with more than 500 visitors present including CNU staff, students, alumni, and local residents of Gwangju and the Jeonnam region.

In the ceremony speech, President Jeong stated, "CNU has a glorious history, which is a valuable asset of wider human history. Now, it is the time for creating a history of innovation for CNU.”

President Jeong stated, "Our proud history and traditions should be the basis of a victory of people with readiness and long-term perspectives. Let's go forward with pride and wisdom for CNU as the beloved university of this local community that contributes to the nation and the global community."
 

During the ceremony, CNU awarded the Hugwang Scholastic Award (Emeritus Professor Song Ki-sook), Yongbong Award (Huh Jeong, Director of Eden Hospital and Lee Hak-young, a member of the National Assembly), and Honorable Alumni Award (the late Yun Han-deok, Lee Neung-muk, Kang Byung-seok, Kim Hyung-soon, Park Byung-chil, Yang Gwan-woon, and Cho Man-hyung).

In addition, Professor Huh Wan-joong (CNU Law School), Shin Hae-jin (Department of Korean Language and Literature), and Ryu Jae-hwang (School of Dentistry) received the Yongbong Scholarly Award and Professor Cho Seok-ho (Department of Human Ecology) and Ryu Jae-hwang received Excellent Scholar Awards. CNU also awarded Excellent Staff Awards and Long-term Service Awards.

Furthermore, CNU held ‘CNU Hanmadang’ with various sports events for faculty, students, and staff to enhance and forge a harmonious and cooperative environment. CNU also held ‘Yongbong Banquet,’ with alumni and donors who contributed to the development of CNU to express gratitude.
