CNU is starting to nurture Google Cloud-based AI talent through cooperation with Gwangju Metropolitan City and Google.

On May 8, CNU (President: Jung Sung-taek) signed the business agreement for Google Cloud-based AI talent fostering with Gwangju Metropolitan City and iCore E&C, Google Cloud’s official education partner, at the Business Hall of Gwangju City Hall.

The signing ceremony was attended by CNU President Jung, Gwangju Mayor Kang Ki-jeong, Google Cloud Korea’s CEO Kang Hyung-joon, and iCore E&C’s CEO Kim Wook-hyun.

These institutions will work together for ▲ mutual cooperation based on Google Cloud-based AI talent training, ▲ AI and new technology / support for trainees in high-tech fields, ▲ cooperation in education and research activities to nurture talent in new technologies and high-tech fields, and ▲ corporate innovation for growth and global market promotion through the operation of seminars and forums for market entry.

In particular, CNU will select thirty students and provide training for about 16 weeks from May 15 to August 31. The curriculum consists of online basic training (6 weeks), offline technical training (9 weeks), and pitching and networking programs(2 days).

The agreement is a follow-up measure that President Jung and Mayor Kang promised when they visited Google’s headquarters in Silicon Valley in the U.S. and discussed ways for further cooperation in January. Paul Wilson, the general director of the division of Google Asia Pacific, promised to continue detailed discussions in the future with the invitation to the Google Korea campus.

President Jung said, “As a national flagship university, we will make efforts to succeed in the first collaboration model promoted by the university with local governments and global companies to foster future industries in the region and spread it to various fields.”
