In celebration of the 70th year of establishment and 113th year of the foundation of predecessor colleges integrated into CNU, CNU selected Professor Song Seon-joo (School of Materials Science and Engineering) and Professor Lee Sang-ho (School of Economics) as outstanding researchers and awarded them research funds along with a certificate.

Professor Song is drawing attention by announcing remarkable research results in the field of research on electrode materials and electrode reaction evaluation of solid oxide fuel cells, an eco-friendly, power-generation technology.

In particular, Song’s research is a key to the commercialization of solid electrolyte cell-based hydrogen production and power generation electrochemical cells by optimizing the electrode reaction through the analysis of the defect structure of various charge-conductive electrode materials such as proton cation, oxygen ion anion, electron, and electron-defective species, as well as the control of surface properties. Professor Song has continued to publish research results and will receive a research grant of 50 million KRW over two years.

Professor Lee has been conducting research to analyze the correlation between government regulatory policies and corporate strategies from an industrial structural point of view and clarify their competitive relationship through economic theory. Recently, Professor Lee announced the results of the analysis of mutual organicity between voluntary environmental responsibility strategies, which are corporate ESG activities, and the government's environmental regulation policies from the perspective of consumer welfare and endogenous sustainability in relation to climate change and the government's carbon-neutral policy. Professor Lee published the results of the study in Energy Economics (impact factor: 7.042, JCR top 3%) and has achieved outstanding accomplishments, ranking in the top 4% of world economists in the RePEc Ranking (https://ideas.repec.org/top/top.person.all10.html) for the past 10 years while leading world-class research by publishing 67 research papers in SSCI-level journals so far. A CNU research grant of 20 million KRW will be awarded to Professor Lee over the next two years.
