CNU and the Yeosu City Council promised to work together to establish a mutually beneficial system for the region and the university.
CNU and Yeosu City Council had a meeting on the morning of October 4 at Cheonggyeongmaru on CNU’s Yeosu Campus, to share agendas and introduce major projects as follows to discuss ways for win-win cooperation between the region and universities: ▲ construction of facilities for student support on the Yeosu Campus (Student Success Hall and BTL [Build, Transfer, and Lease] Dormitory), ▲ establishment of traffic safety infrastructure on the CNU Yeosu Campus ▲ building trail deck linking Spopark in the downtown area, ▲ improvement of city bus routes for the Yeosu Campus, ▲ planning for the smart space remodeling project for the library on the Yeosu Campus, and ▲ establishment of the CNU Yeosu Research Institute.
On this day, eighteen people from CNU, including Park Bok-jae, CNU vice president, and key post members, directors of centers, as well as seventeen people from Yeosu Council, including Chairperson Kim Young-gyu and Vice-Chairperson Kang Jae-heon attended.
Chairperson Kim said, "In order to expand the synergy effect of the integration of CNU and Yeosu University, we will actively cooperate with various projects promoted by the CNU Yeosu Campus, including support for the establishment of the Student Success Hall. We will also work hard at the council’s level to actively reflect the opinions of local people to keep promises regarding integration, such as building a hospital in Yeosu.”
Vice President Park Bok-jae said, “I believe this meeting is held at a time when building a cooperative system for the local community, university, and industry to prosper together is more important than ever. It can be the first step for establishing a win-win cooperation system, and we will make further efforts to communicate closely with related organizations.”
Starting with a meeting with provincial councilors in August, CNU’s Yeosu Campus will continue to hold meetings for mutually beneficial cooperation with all walks of life in the region, such as the Yeosu City government, corporations in the Yeosu National Industrial Complex, and civil society organizations.
