From August 4 to 17, CNU hosted a specialized AI Convergence Education Program for 19 Japanese university students as part of the “2025 Korea-Japan Joint Higher Education Exchange Program.”

This initiative is a higher education exchange program jointly organized by the Ministry of Education of Korea and Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT), and administered in Korea by the National Institute for International Education (NIIED). CNU was selected as the host institution for the second consecutive years, proving its operational experience and educational competitiveness.

Students from prominent Japanese universities, including Kyushu University, Osaka Metropolitan University, and Okayama University, participated in the program.

At the CNU College of AI Convergence, the participants received practical training in open-source programming and AI-based convergence education. The curriculum was designed to strengthen practical skills by combining theoretical lectures with field-oriented practice and Project-Based Learning (PBL).

Students also experienced a comprehensive Korean cultural-convergence program that encompassed both traditional culture and advanced industry, including a visit to the Gwangju Hyanggyo (Confucian school), a bibimbap cooking class, Korean language lectures, and a tour of the Kia Motors Gwangju plant.

To facilitate learning and cultural exchange, 10 CNU undergraduate students took part in a “Buddy Program,” attending classes and assisting with cultural activities alongside their Japanese counterparts.

Through these efforts, the program has established itself as a platform for fostering mutual understanding and promoting sustainable exchange between Korean and Japanese youth, going beyond a simple short-term training course.

CNU successfully implemented the same program last year, providing 22 Japanese students with a short-term course that integrated AI and engineering convergence with cultural experiences.

Supported by government funding, the program offers advanced lab and practical training, institutional visits, and Korean language classes.  It has been recognized. . . / two sentences maintain meaning while improving flow.
