CNU held an excursion program for international graduate students to visit historical and cultural sites with President Jung.

CNU’s Graduate School Innovation Office organized a historical and cultural exploration trip from July 4 to 5, 2024 and 23 international graduate students from seven countries visited Gyeongju to gain a deeper understanding of Korean history and traditions.

The trip included CNU President Jung and the Dean of the Graduate School, Professor Kwak Sang-hyun.

The participating students, from Vietnam, India, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Myanmar, and Russia, toured cultural heritage sites in Gyeongju, such as Cheomseongdae, Dong-gung Palace, and Wolji Pond, and shared cultural diversity by introducing their own countries.

The students particularly appreciated the opportunity to have conversations with the president, discussing both the benefits and challenges of their study abroad experiences.

Michael Zita, a master’s student in Environmental Energy Engineering from Malaysia, said, “I will remember this trip for a long time, as it allowed me to see beautiful cultural assets that reveal Korea's long history and to communicate with the president in a relaxed manner.”

President Jung commented, “Understanding history and culture seems to foster deep affection. I hope our international students at CNU will understand Korea better and grow into global professionals through a successful study abroad experience.”

The Graduate School Innovation Office of CNU organized the program to visit Gyeongju this year after the previous tour program to Ulleungdo and Dokdo Islands last year for international graduate students. It also operates a 1:1 psychological counseling program to help with personal issues such as career and academic difficulties for international graduate students.
