The joint festival ‘OJIDA,’ organized by five national universities in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do, was held on November 21, drawing an enthusiastic crowd of over 1,000 participants, including high school students, families, and local residents.
The event was a collaborative effort by Chonnam National University (CNU), Gwangju National University of Education, Mokpo National University, Mokpo Maritime University, and Sunchon National University, aimed at strengthening inter-university partnerships while showcasing their achievements to the community.
High school seniors who had just completed their college entrance exams, along with families and community members, enjoyed a wide range of programs, including lectures, hands-on activities, and interactive events.
A heartwarming highlight of this year’s festival was its co-hosts: Eunjee Choi, a freshman in CNU’s Department of Chemical Engineering, and her father, Hongyeon Choi, a 1997 CNU alumnus. Their dynamic as father and daughter, as well as senior and junior alumni, added a unique sense of connection and warmth to the event.
CNU President Sungtaek Jung remarked, “This festival perfectly embodied the spirit of harmony and communication. I hope we continue to expand opportunities like this to strengthen collaboration between universities and deepen our connection with the local community.”
