Chonnam National University (CNU) has reopened the CNU-Tay Nguyen Korean Culture Center, which had been on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, signaling a renewed momentum for international collaboration with Vietnamese universities.

On November 26, a delegation led by President Sungtaek Jung along with university officials and the Senior Vice Chairman of the Alumni Association, visited Tay Nguyen University in Vietnam to explore ways to revitalize academic exchanges and cooperation.

visit’s most significant achievement was the reopening of the CNU-Tay Nguyen Korean Culture Center, first established in 2017 but closed during the pandemic. At the reopening ceremony at Tay Nguyen University’s campus, both institutions celebrated this milestone, which is expected to further spread Korean culture locally and attract talented Vietnamese students to study at CNU.

Tay Nguyen University, located in Buon Ma Thuot in Vietnam’s Central Highlands, has maintained a close relationship with CNU since the signing of their partnership agreement in 2007. This bond is particularly special, as 12 CNU alumni currently serve as professors at the university, including two of its three vice presidents.

President Sungtaek Jung shared his excitement, saying, “We are thrilled to see the CNU-Tay Nguyen Korean Culture Center reopen. We hope it becomes not just a place for Korean language education but a vibrant hub for cultural exchange between our two countries.”
