On March 26, Chonnam National University (CNU) held an inauguration ceremony for its 22nd president, Dr. Keunbae Lee, at Minjumaru Hall on the Gwangju campus. Over 300 guests attended the event, including former CNU presidents, local government leaders, alumni association representatives, and media and industry figures. The ceremony featured a presidential biography, symbolic handover of the university key, commemorative video, inaugural address, and congratulatory messages.
In his speech, President Lee stated, “It is an honor to lead my alma mater, where I’ve served as a professor for 26 years. I’m committed to strengthening CNU as both a regional hub and a globally competitive university.”
President Lee emphasized communication, innovation, and community engagement as key pillars of his leadership. His term runs through February 2029.
A graduate of CNU’s College of Medicine, Dr. Lee has held leadership roles such as Chair of the Faculty Council, Director of the Biomedical Research Institute, and President of national professor associations. Since officially taking office in February, he has initiated structural reforms to shape CNU’s future direction.
