The CNU Student Council was established after two years of vacancy since 2018.

In the 2021 CNU Students Council Election held on December 2nd, under the supervision of the CNU Central Election Commission (Chairman: Yoon Woo-hyun, junior in the Department of Family Environment and Welfare), the ‘Baro’ election campaign led by Im Gi-an (junior in the Department of Statistics, left in the photo) as a candidate for president won the election. His running mate, Han Chae-young (junior in the Division of Food Technology, Biotechnology, and Agrochemistry) was elected vice president of the council.

In this election, the total number of voters was 15,100, and the ‘Baro’ campaign headquarters won 6,149 votes (65.6%) out of 9,376 votes with a total turnout of 62.09%. The ‘Neulbom,’ opposition candidacy led by Lee In-woo and Park Hong-eun, gained 34.4% of the vote, which was significantly lower.

The pledge of the ‘Baro’ campaign consisted of ▲ operation of the educational environment improvement council ▲ expansion of the enrollment capacity for courses required for teaching certificates, major and minor requirements ▲ transparency and fairness in financial management, and▲ a safe school environment.

In addition, they promised to form a new festival culture and create a safe campus in cooperation with the police, which were considered concrete plans to realize and supported by a large number of voters.

Im said, “We will create the new council with a sense of responsibility as supported by our classmates despite the unstable situations in time of online classes. We believe CNU students have missed out on rightful opportunities, such as the right to participate in budget deliberation and vote for the presidential election. We will create a student council that can fulfill the wishes and rights of students.”

In the student council election held during the COVID-19 epidemic, each candidate and campaign created and shared their contents and plans on social media such as Instagram, Facebook, and blogs for promotion to students who have not attended school.

The election was conducted online, with voting through an election link sent via text commissioned by the Buk-gu Election Commission.
