CNU has inaugurated an ultra-regional medical AI research center.
The opening ceremony, held on August 26 at the Holiday Inn Gwangju, was attended by over 50 representatives from CNU, CNU Hospital, Kyungpook National University, Kyungpook National University Hospital, and collaborating companies.
This initiative follows the university's selection for the 2024 University ICT Research Center Project (ITRC) supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT, and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency in July of this year. Over eight years, the university will receive 7.5 billion KRW to collaborate with leading universities and hospitals in the Yeongnam and Honam regions for talent development and ultra-regional medical AI technology development.
The center aims to enhance public health by developing AI technologies for preventing, diagnosing, and treating cardiovascular diseases, while also improving the efficiency of medical staff's work and raising the quality of the healthcare system. It plans to cultivate master's and doctoral-level ICT convergent talent to lead the medical industry.
