Professor Lee Keun-bae at the School of Medicine has been elected as the top candidate for president of CNU.
In the election for the 22nd president of CNU, held on September 25, Professor Lee received 768 votes from a total of 7,190 voters, securing the first place. The second candidate, Professor Song Jin-kyu, garnered 579 votes.
In the first round of voting held that morning, Professor Lee was the leading candidate among four but did not achieve a majority, necessitating a runoff on the same day.
The election process was overseen by the Election Commission of Buk-gu District in Gwangju, which conducted the entire process through online voting.
The two candidates will undergo verification by the university's Research Ethics Integrity Committee regarding their papers and research ethics, as well as personal inspection by the Ministry of Education, before the president makes a final appointment.
