The SEM (Self-Made Vehicle) club from CNU, led by Professor Lee Young-dal from the Department of Intelligent Mobility Convergence, participated in the “2024 College Student Smart e-Mobility Competition” held from October 4 to 6 in Yeonggwang, Jeollanam-do, and won the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award (Grand Prix).
In this competition, organized by the Korean Society of Automotive Engineers, SEM (led by president Lee Seung-hyun, a senior) showcased an electric self-made vehicle equipped with the latest battery technology and an efficient power transmission system, demonstrating impressive acceleration and durability, which earned them high scores.
Notably, the vehicle's two in-wheel motors provided excellent control at speeds over 80 km/h, achieving outstanding results in various categories, including acceleration performance, slalom, driving performance, and endurance race.
This competition is the largest domestic electric vehicle contest where college students create their own electric cars and compete, with participation from 68 teams representing 53 universities across the country, totaling 1,985 participants.
