CNU tentatively opened its third library, Information Maru, on March 29. The official opening date is April 27.

CNU Library (Director Professor Jang Woo-kwon, Department of Library and Information Science) temporarily opened its third library, Information Maru, for students to use as a reading room, as well as the existing Central Library (a.k.a. Hongdo, “Red Library”) and the Annex (a.k.a. Baekdo, “White Library”).

Information Maru is a hybrid library that supports user-centered creative and collaborative online and offline learning and has a reading and study space such as individual reading seats, individual cells, and group-study rooms.

In addition, a video production room, a video editing room, and a multimedia zone that can utilize a variety of multimedia tools have been prepared to for the high-tech digital information era. Now, spaces such as Gallery Zone, an attic-type room, the Bit Madang, and the Namjeong Lounge provide areas for students to study and take a break.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, entrance to the Information Maru is restricted to the west gate (in front of the College of Humanities), and group study rooms are also restricted for the time being.

Bearing the nickname of “Digital library,” Information Maru has been called by some students “Hwangdo” (a.k.a. Yellow Library) due to the color of its exterior.

Director Jang said, “We will make Information Maru, a new conversion complex for learning that fosters the hopes and dreams of students and local residents.”
