Marine police officers who graduated from CNU pledged to donate development funds to their alma mater.

Lim Chae-seong, a graduate of CNU's Yeosu Campus, made an agreement on March 15 with CNU Vice-President Cho Ki-ryang to donate 12 million KRW to the university development fund by collecting donations each month for the next five years with 9 other CNU graduates.

These 10 maritime police are all graduates from the Department of Marine Systems Engineering at Yeosu Campus, who entered the university from 1996 – 2000, with 9 of them working for the Yeosu Maritime Police and 1 for the Jeju Maritime Police.

Mr. Lim, who entered CNU in 1997 attended the agreement ceremony, where he said, “As the school-age population decreases and the educational environment rapidly changes due to COVID-19, the sense of crisis in local universities is increasing. It is a small amount of donations but surely a meaningful one from monthly contribution of CNU alumni for the development of their alma mater. We decided to donate the development fund to arouse the interest among the alumni community of CNU’s Yeosu Campus, as well as the local community in Yeosu.”

Vice-President Cho said, “I am proud of the graduates who are from the Yeosu campus and are confidently serving the maritime police. We appreciate this meaningful donation and will do our best to make the best use of it by fostering excellent students.”

Maritime police who participated in the donation agreement are as follows: Cho Sang-beom (entered CNU in 1996), Lim Chae-seong (entered CNU in 1997), Kwak Jang-ho (entered CNU in 1998), Kim Jin-hyuk (entered CNU in 1999), Park Byung-jun (entered CNU in 1999), Jeong Tak-soo (entered CNU in 1999), Choi Gwang-cheon (entered CNU in 1999), Han Ho-seok (entered CNU in 1999), Kwon Dae-nam (entered CNU in 2000), and Park Jae-hyung (entered CNU in 2000).
