CNU’s Craft Major Selected for the Craft and Design Education Project for 3 Consecutive Years

The Craft Major in CNU’s Department of Fine Arts was selected for the Craft and Design Education Project for 3 consecutive years.

According to CNU’s Department of Fine Arts, its Craft Major was selected for the 2021 Craft and Design Education Project for university students hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the Korea Craft and Design Culture Promotion Agency (KCDF) for 3 consecutive years. It will provide relevant educational programs from September to December. 

This project aims to promote creative collaboration between craft and design and foster creative prospects who will open a new future for the traditional culture industry by transferring skills and techniques of traditional craft.

CNU has planned and created an advanced course through cooperative classes between Professors Kim Chul-woo and Kim Hyun-joo, and Jangdojang Master Park Jong-gun, the National Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 60 in Gwangyang.

Also, in December, a comprehensive competition will be held with Cheongju University and Hansung University, which were selected for the same project, and an exhibition is planned at the 2021 Craft Trend Fair held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul.

Outstanding universities participating in the education exhibition will be recognized as excellent universities in craft and design education and selected as future base universities to establish an educational cooperation system with the Craft and Design Culture Promotion Agency to conduct systematic education. Students participating in the classes will receive a certificate of completion from the Korea Craft and Design Culture Promotion Agency, and the most outstanding team will be awarded by the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

Previously, CNU won the Excellence Award in 2019 and the Grand Prize in 2020.
