A research paper published by the research team of CNU Professor Jeon In-su (School of Mechanical Engineering) recently appeared in one of the most prestigious journals in the field of materials science.

According to the research team of Professor Jeon and Dr. Tariful Islam Mredha, the team recently published a paper in the online edition of Progress in Materials Science (impact factor: 39.58), one of the field’s most prestigious journals.

Their research accomplishment is in the area of anisotropic hydrogel, which has attracted attention recently, as it is closely related to the production of biomaterials, flexible electric devices, and soft robotic
s.

The research team has been conducting research for the development of various isotropic and anisotropic hydrogels since 2016 and has published a number of papers in renowned international journals. The research results this time have presented certain guidelines for the development of new functional hydrogels.

In addition, it is expected to be helpful in the development of flexible devices and systems for them, which display rigid characteristics in the atmosphere of the Earth.

Dr. Tariful Islam Mredha, the first author of this research, joined Professor Jeon's laboratory after receiving his Ph.D. in 2016 under the guidance of Professor Jianping Gong (Hokkaido University, Japan), who is globally renowned in the field of hydrogel development. Dr. Mredha is an excellent researcher who has been selected for a research fellowship with the Overseas Excellent Young Researcher Support Project (2019 - 2023) of the National Research Foundation of Korea, which grants 40 million KRW per year for 5 years.

This thesis was published with the support of the National Research Foundation of Korea's Support for Mid-Career Researchers, the Priority Research Institute Program, and the Korea Research Fellowship.
