College of Education Strives to Strengthen Distance Education Capabilities

Yoo Eun-hae, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, visited CNU on February 22nd and toured the construction site of the Future Education Center before attending a meeting to support distance education and public education within a university context.

That afternoon, Deputy Prime Minister Yoo visited the site of the Edutech mentoring and special education conducted by graduate and undergraduate students of the College of Education at the CNU Education Convergence Center, where the Future Education Center is located, and shared greetings with elementary and middle school students attending  distance learning classes in addition to listening to the difficulties they shared.

Deputy Prime Minister Yoo attended the video conferences with students, parents, and educational officers to further look for measures to provide systematic and continuous support for distance education.

The meeting was attended by President Jung, National Assembly member Yoon Young-deok, and officials from the Korea Science and Creativity Foundation.

In the meeting, Professor Kim Hoi-soo, the dean of the College of Education stated, “For a fair education in society and sustainable regional development, we need to strengthen the capacity of pre-service teachers for distance learning lectures, and increase support for resolving the academic disparity caused by online lessons. To this end, we will build a sustainable community and education ecosystem by strengthening the network between the Ministry of Education and the Gwangju-Jeonnam Office of Education, and reinforce the capabilities of distance education and future education of both pre-service teachers and students of the College of Education.”
