President Moon Jae-in sent a congratulatory message on their appointment. Parents and families watched the ceremony online through the Zoom application.

In his congratulatory remarks, President Jung said, "There is no better soldier than a person of knowledge who decided to participate in a battle."

"If college life is like floating on a calm river, the life of a soldier will be like sailing on a rough sea with infinite possibilities however hard and rough it is. We ask you to overcome the hardship.”

Vice-President Cho Ki-ryang said at the ceremony on the Yeosu Campus, “Remain proud as descendants of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, who saved the country during the Imjin War. Have the responsibility to protect the country and your families by conducting your honorable duties.”
