The CNU degree conferment ceremony was held online without any face-to-face event.

CNU issued degrees for a total of 1,837 students, including 1,240 bachelors, 458 masters, and 139 doctoral students, at the graduation ceremony for the late 2020 academic year held online to prevent the spread of COVID-19 on August 26.

In addition, graduation certificates, degree certificates, and other certificates were to be distributed by each department (division), and uniforms were voluntarily loaned to each college by August 27.

There were four or five flower stands at the front and back gates on the day of online ceremony, and some graduates went out on campus to take commemorative photos with their families and friends while wearing school uniforms to soothe the disappointment of graduating without a graduation ceremony.

In the online video, various members of the Uzbek international students community and their parents, as well as graduates, current students, student council members, appointed professors, staff, and President Jo Sung-hee of CNU Alumni’s Association appeared to congratulate the graduates.

Through an online graduation message, President Jung said, “It’s a pity and regret that a graduation ceremony that should be celebrated and rejoiced on campus must be held online. Nevertheless, fulfill your moral responsibilities as members of the community and keep the creative and emotional ‘passion of youth’ for a long time."

President Chung also appealed to local residents and the public by saying, “Please trust and embrace CNU graduates with all other capabilities and faithful character. We will do our best to become a university loved by local people, trusted by the nation, and recognized by the world.”
