CNU's Global Diaspora Research Center was selected as the recipient of the 2021 Institute Programs in the Humanities & Social Sciences of the National Research Foundation of Korea.

CNU’s Global Diaspora Research Institute (Director: Professor Kim Kyung-hak) has been selected for the 2021 Institute Programs in the Humanities & Social Sciences governed by the National Research Foundation of Korea with the research topic 'Migration and Health Publicity in the Post-Corona Era: Focusing on Local Health Commons.' The Institute will conduct the first round of research over a period of three years.

The institute will conduct theoretical and practical research to resolve the conflicts and contradictions related to the health problems of migrants during the COVID-19 pandemic from the viewpoint of public health. In particular, the research institute plans to develop a community-based health commons model and conduct research with universities, local governments, and NGOs to promote the health of migrants.

Director Kim said, “The health problems of migrants should not be resolved through simple health and medical services, but rather through a process of cooperation and practice at the community level. Through this process, cultural exchange and communication between migrants and local peoples will be facilitated to promote the health of migrants and public discourse.”
