President Jung Sung-taek Inaugurated as the 21st President of CNU

Professor Jung Sung-taek (59. Doctor of Medicine) was inaugurated as the 21st President of Chonnam National University on January 15th.

Professor Jung was officially inaugurated as the 21st President of Chonnam National University on the same day after receiving the approval of President Moon Jae-in for the appointment of president. His term of office is four years until January 14th, 2025.

The new president began his term this morning with a greeting from the secretary office's staff and professors who are assigned to major posts. As his first official presidential work, Jung approved the proposal of the CNU Education Innovation Plan.

Prior to his administration, President Jung stated, "CNU has been striving to establish universal values of humanity by continuing its proud history and tradition. Based on the strength and capabilities that we have cultivated, we will make CNU stronger and more prestigious."

President Jung continued, "By cultivating outstanding talents with knowledge and academic depth, and unbridled talents which are not disturbed or constrained by crisis or obstacle, we will do our best to prepare a hopeful future for young students and lay the foundation for mutual benefit with local communities and national development."

President Jung entered the CNU College of Medicine in 1980 and received a Ph.D., served as president of the Korean Pediatric Orthopedic Society and the Korean Bone and Joint Tumor Society, and textbook committee member for the Korean Orthopedic Association. At CNU, he has served as the Dean of Office of Student Affairs, Vice-dean of the College of Medicine, committee member of the General Council, and planning coordinator of CNU Hospital.
