CNU is promoting the Research Performance Expansion Project in which excellent public research achievements are transferred to local companies.

On August 20, CNU reported the preparation status of the project, which aims to spread research results and measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in each laboratory to Yong Hong-taek, the First Vice Minister of Science and ICT, who visited to examine the current status of the project and listen to voices in the field. At this meeting, CNU expressed its willingness to complete 10 technology transfers (worth approximately five billion KRW in technology transfer fees) over three years through the Intermediation Research Center (Director: Professor Cho Hyung-ho, College of Medicine) that converges diagnosis and treatment technologies.

CNU is the only domestic university that carries out all the following projects governed by the Ministry of Science and ICT, which provide a total of 10.9 billion KRW of governmental R&D funds over three years: the R&D for Promotion of Expansion of Research Results (Mediating Research Field)」, the Fostering Project for University Open-Lab Connected with Local Industry, and the Technology Management Center (TMC) Project.

Specifically, the R&D for Promotion of Expansion of Research Results (Mediating Research Field)」 is the research performance expansion project of the Ministry of Science and ICT which focuses on discovering laboratory ideas with commercial potential from universities and funded research institutes and commercializing those technologies to meet the needs of companies. The Fostering Project for University Open-Lab Connected with Local Industry focuses on open-lab established by cooperative efforts of universities, industries, and academies to speed up the transfer and commercialization of university-owned technologies to local companies. The TMC Project aims to promote technology transfer and laboratory start-ups by strengthening the commercialization capability of the Technology Licensing Office (TLO).

President Jung said, “We are delighted to be selected for those projects but also feel a grave responsibility to carry them all out on behalf of the Ministry of Science and ICT. Through technology commercialization, CNU will do its best to contribute to the local economy as well as the national economy.”
