[Leading in National Research Grants]
Chonnam National University has achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the first among national flagship universities to surpass 200 billion KRW in research grants, placing it first among national universities. In 2021, the university secured 3,069 research projects, a record that ranks it 7th among all universities nationwide. The majority of these projects were in the fields of medicine and engineering, with significant projects in the humanities as well, demonstrating a well-balanced academic research environment.
Chonnam National University's research achievements are the result of a focus on creating a research-friendly campus environment, improving research management systems, and expanding reward mechanisms, all contributing to a culture of research and establishing a virtuous cycle. The systematic support for excellent research personnel and the establishment of a system to quickly address researchers' concerns have been identified as major factors in this success. Having already attained the top position in research grants among national universities in 2017-2018, Chonnam National University has continued to strive as a research-oriented university, proactively responding to societal changes.
