Chonnam National University operates a sports center with a strong commitment to community service, aiming to promote the development of local sports and foster a healthy community. According to the university's operating principles, the sports center is run on a non-profit basis, with all income reinvested into improving facilities and services. This ensures that both university members and local residents benefit from the center, as outlined in Article 3 of the regulations.

The Chonnam National University Sports Center is open to faculty, staff, students, and local residents, enhancing communication and interaction with the community. The sports facilities include an artificial turf field, futsal and tennis courts, and a gymnasium. Additionally, various health and fitness programs, such as yoga, ballet, tennis, and pilates, are offered and have been well-received by the local community. These programs provide affordable and accessible opportunities for health improvement.

In 2023, the total number of users at Chonnam National University's sports center across all programs reached 9,179. Of these, 5,462 (59.5%) were local residents, while 3,717 (40.5%) were university members. This balance illustrates the university’s strong outreach efforts toward the local community while still serving its academic members.

Additionally, Chonnam National University's main stadium is bustling with local residents exercising at all times of the day—morning, noon, and evening.
