The following policies were all created or reviewed between 2019 and 2024.
Chonnam National University is committed to fostering a supportive organizational culture that promotes work-life balance, enabling fathers to actively participate in childcare.
Below are the policies available for university members with children (regardless of gender):
- Employees with children under the age of 5 can take up to two hours of childcare time per day to care for their children.
- The university provides a leave system for students who need time off due to pregnancy, childbirth, or childcare.
- Faculty members who take parental leave are exempt from teaching English courses during the semester they are on leave.
- Faculty members who do not teach for a semester or more due to maternity or parental leave are awarded basic points for educational performance evaluation (115 points per semester), even if they do not teach.
- Faculty members on maternity or parental leave are still eligible to apply for a sabbatical year.
- The university operates a daycare center for employees, ensuring a stable environment where staff can focus on their work while their children are cared for.
- Every Wednesday is designated as 'Family Love Day,' encouraging staff to leave work on time and avoid after-hours gatherings, promoting a culture that values family time.
- The university promotes an atmosphere where both men and women are encouraged to use childcare time, parental leave, and other family-related benefits to achieve work-life balance.
- Employees who have a child receive a celebration payment.
Through these policies, Chonnam National University supports fathers in fulfilling their roles at home and actively participating in childcare.
