Chonnam National University actively participates in cooperative planning for climate change disasters at both local and regional levels through the Jeonnam Green Environment Support Center. The university collaborates with local businesses, public institutions, and environmental organizations to enhance the region’s capacity to address climate change impacts and foster resilience.

  1. Jeollanam-do Carbon Reduction Technology Exchange Seminar
On November 24, 2023, Chonnam National University’s Jeonnam Green Environment Support Center held the "Jeollanam-do Carbon Reduction Technology Exchange Seminar" at the Jeonnam Environmental Industry Promotion Institute. The event brought together members from the Jeollanam-do Environmental Industry Association, small businesses, and public institutions to share eco-friendly technology related to climate adaptation in domestic industries. Key topics included resource circulation technologies, the development of eco-friendly fine dust prevention products, and odor reduction using plasma technology. This seminar fostered cooperation and technical support among regional stakeholders to enhance climate resilience across Jeollanam-do.

  2. Yeosu City Climate Change Adaptation and Voluntary Greenhouse Gas Reduction Regional Action Plan
In collaboration with Yeosu City, the Jeonnam Green Environment Support Center coordinates a multi-stakeholder task force to evaluate and implement the "Yeosu City Climate Change Adaptation and Voluntary Greenhouse Gas Reduction Regional Action Plan." The task force includes representatives from public, transportation, industry, and residential sectors, focusing on setting annual emission reduction goals and developing systematic climate adaptation strategies. This collaborative effort strengthens Yeosu’s capacity to address climate-related risks and supports the community’s transition to a low-carbon future.

Through these initiatives, Chonnam National University plays a central role in cooperative planning for climate change disaster preparedness and in supporting carbon neutrality and environmental sustainability at both the local and regional levels.
